Well, what can I say…May was a tough month for the MM 35+ squad. When Jason Cherry laid down a sub 21-minute time up Lookout and it was only good for 23rd, we knew we had our work cut out for us.
There were some bright spots during the month, however. Peter Ismert continued to impress by finishing a tough Tour of the Gila in 10th. Peter also managed 15th place finishes at Wheels of Thunder and Coal Miner's Classic.
Bad Brad and Capn' Presta had a nice Cherry Creek TT series finishing 18th and 13th, respectively.
Until next month…
The DR HORTON Masters Men 35+ are off to a terrific 2006 season! If our April campaign is any indication of things to come - we have some exciting racing to look forward to.
Jason Cherry, better known as Big Man of the Peloton, started us off with a gritty 8th place finish in the Men's 3 field, at the wind battered Stazio #2 race. He followed that up by uncorking a 10th place finish at the feared Koppenburg circuit.
Peter Ismert, our road race hard man, did battle with the elites of our field at the Boulder Roubaix, taking a hard fought 6th place. Peter continued to show his toughness at the AST crit where he worked hard at the front to help bring back an early break. He built on his 2006 resume the following weekend at Boulder Beer with a 10th place finish.
We wrapped up the month at Deer Trail, which proved to be worthy of a hard man's race designation. We encountered rain, snow, light hail and of course, BIG wind! Peter and Jason finished a very respectable 9th and 13th. Steve Ruskup and Brad Tucker just missed the top 20, finishing 22nd and 24th.
I would be remiss if I didn't mention the CCTT and the efforts of Brad (BT) Tucker, and Steve (Cap'n) Presta. Those boys are flying and getting faster by the week.
Peter is off to the Gila Monster while the rest of us gear up for the start of the BAR/BAT races next weekend at Lookout Mountain.
2006 holds much promise, indeed!
